Edith Allen Milner reminiscences and related miscellany, [undated].

Consists of composition-style notebook of Milner's containing a handwritten, edited copy of a reminiscence by Milner's mother, Sallie Fox Allen, that Allen had written for a memorial booklet in honor of Edward O. Smith that was issued after his death in 1892, giving an account of Allen's overland journey with her family from Iowa to Calif. as part of the Brown, Rose, and Jones train in 1858-1859. The wagon train was attacked by Mojave Indians in Ariz. and rescued by Edward O. Smith and his party. The notebook also contains a reminiscence by Milner about her mother's telling of the story to her. A typed version (5 leaves) of Milner's reminiscence is included, with a handwritten postscript. With the reminiscences are: a folded, illustrated printed sheet about the Nut Tree near Vacaville, Calif., whose walnut grove was started by walnuts brought from Ariz. in Sallie Allen's pocket; and a 1932 newspaper clipping from the Oakland Tribune, in a printed sleeve, about the overland journey.
